After another year when Bartons plc have been severely tested by the difficulty of tram construction all around us, we return to Heritage in September by both being a host to other splendid local organisations and their displays, and contribute ourselves to the HOD movement.\nLarge parts of Bartons Chilwell site rarely seen by the public will be open. Although the tram situation has made us feel like The Alamo must have felt like after its annihilation, Bartons remain firmly committed to the Beeston and Chilwell area and will have vehicles, ephemera and new information on display showing the Company's contribution to East Midlands life over the last century, and as is our intention, the next.\nOpening Times: Saturday: 10am - 4pm\nDue to unforeseen circumstances relating to tram construction, trips on vintage vehicles will not this year take place. Barton vehicles will be on static display only.\nPlease look at the news for more info on the day.\nThe following events will be held at Bartons :-\nProtecting & improving our local areaBeeston & District Civic SocietyCome and visit our stand to find out more about what we do.\nRelatives in the First World War?Beeston & District Local History SocietyCome and look at an exhibition showing research from Beeston's Muster Roll, newspapers and the archives of the Society. Other displays will show the changes in Beeston over the years and feature "M" Middle Street, Mona Street, Manor House and more. There will be a chance to see some of the artefacts held in the Society archives especially featuring trophies, cups and awards. Books, scrapbooks and photographs through the decades will be available to view.\nMake-Do and MendGreening BeestonInspiration from the wartime years on saving energy, resources and money - recipes, recycling, mending, making do. Come and share your memories, hints and tips or learn a new skill. Although originally formed by 7 Carlton students they have met twice a month in Beeston for the last twenty years. Originally a motorsport club, in more recent times they have become more involved in classic cars and are interested in preserving our transport heritage. Brownies are 100 years old this year and if you were a Brownie, we want you to get in on the action and help us celebrate! As well as the history of Girlguiding in the Beeston area, you will find activities for children, and lots and lots of FUN! If you would like to find out more please visit our website at: www.beestongirlguiding.org.uk\nBack to BeestonMiddlebridge Scimitar Owners ClubThe Middlebridge Scimitar was a luxury sports car manufactured in a factory (Scimitar House on Lilac Grove, Beeston). Only a small number were made, of which most survive today. The Owners Club have made a return to Beeston on Heritage Weekend a feature of their calendar for the last four years. This year the club are celebrating 25 years since their manufacture and will have a large number returning back to Beeston for the occasion. On the Sunday they are displaying in the Market Square in Nottingham Contact: George Samford 07816 448494\nThe Archaeology of the TramTrent & Peak ArchaeologyAs Nottingham's streets are sliced open by the development of its new tram network, secrets of the city's past are being revealed. Trent & Peak Archaeology will be hosting a temporary exhibition about some of the sites uncovered during excavations in advance of the tram, with some of the objects found on display.
