moulin rouge nottingham

We really can’t say too much about this event yet. It will be in our larger TH Barton hall and will be a huge extravaganza as a build up to Christmas 2014. You will become a part of the Moulin Rouge and once through our seedy French night club entrance will be part of an evening you will never forget. This is a Christmas party with a difference. We will reveal more information in the middle of the year about this event which will take place week commencing 9th of December 2014.

theatre nottingham

Although we cannot at this stage confirm the exact dates of the all new National Theatre of Chilwell, the expectations are so great that we thought we would mention it here first. The company will be premiering a brand new show with epic proportions which will then go on the road to other theatres and it is hoped that we can start many shows at Bartons that go on to have a life of their own. Keep an eye on our social media for news on this project.

jazz nottingham

Montreux is miles away and a real bummer if you want to see some superb Jazz music in its legendary festival. But wait no longer NOT the Montreux Jazz festival now appears at Bartons on the weekend of 25 and 26 Nov with some fantastic Jazz from the east Midlands and around the UK. This includes larger bands as well as intimate gigs so watch the website for tickets and announcements at the start of May.

music nottingham

Glastonbury is synonymous with the British music festival scene. Well this is NOT the Glastonbury Festival and as such will be a fantastic weekend of bands who are not going to blow your ears off but will be performing acoustic and some electric sounds worth a listen. It will take place in our gallery space and include places to buy food and drink. We will be showcasing the best of local talent as well as bringing artists in from further afield. From 1 June you will be able to buy tickets through our website or from a local record label which we are working with which we will announce in due course – 25th and 26nd July 2014.

We hosted an unplugged music season in 2012 which was well received. This is essentially acoustic music in our Gallery space with our real ale bars. Due to Tram works we haven’t done this in 2013 but now we are back with an unplugged music night on the second Saturday of each month from August through to Christmas. The acts and tickets will be available to view from early May.

We hosted the first of our NOT the Edinburgh shows in 2012 and these went down so well that we have had a monthly comedy club ever since. We included comedians not only from all over the UK but also from New Zealand, USA and Greece. These were acts genuinely trying material pre Edinburgh Festival and we are now bringing this back. Not only will we have one off performances mid-week but also we will be tying in a weekend of comedy with the Nottingham Comedy Festival 20th and 21nd September. For more details add your name to our mailing list or follow us on social media.

market nottingham

Our Not the Camden Market was fantastically popular in 2012 and many didn’t want it to stop even with the Tram works. However from July we are back on the first Sunday of each month with crafts, arts, stalls, music, coffees cakes and Sunday papers. We are open 10am to 4pm and include many independent stalls from locals and some from further away. The area is also under cover so there is no problem whatever the weather. I hope you will come along to look around and maybe if you are interested in taking a stall get in touch: 0115 925 7766.

comedy club nottingham

We started with a comedy Festival in 2012 and the comedy club has carried on ever since on the first Saturday of each month. We have hosted TV names and tour comedians but we also have an eye on the up and coming comedians. Typically we have 4 comedians on a comedy night so there is plenty of variety for everyone. If you want to book a ticket please go to our forthcoming events section now.

contemporary art nottingham

The Carnival of Monsters is a massive arts festival which started in 2011. It is the largest floor space for any arts festival in the East Midlands and probably a good deal further afield than that. We pride ourselves on presenting huge, innovative, edgey works of art which is displayed in a setting that is not precious and allows people to wander and even scooot around the site (as people have done in the past). We include participation events like ‘The Big Draw’ as well as musical events during the show. If you are an artist wanting to become involved please contact us through our website www.carnivalofmonsters.co.uk and if you simply want to know more keep an eye on our social media for updates. 11th – 25th October 2014.

heritage bartons nottingham

Bartons Garage in Chilwell dates back to 1913 and our Heritage days have been hugely popular as the company has had such a massive effect on peoples lives in the area. This year we will be presenting a new slant to our Heritage event which is during the first half of Sept. Please keep an eye on press for more information on this look back into Nottingham's history.

Click on the logos above for a snap shot of what's to come, more info coming soon.

film festival nottingham

This years NOT the Cannes film festival will be bigger than ever. In the past we have hosted themed driving films in our Drive in Cinema and inside we have performed all manner of films including silent films accompanied by live music from the brilliant Neil Brand. We offer bars and food during these events and look forward to this seasons event which we are hoping will have a Sci Fi theme. Provisionally this will be from 25th – 27th September 2014.

The Carnival of Monsters 2012 - Artist Proposals Wanted.

Categories // Events at Bartons

Proposals sought from artists and performers for a major Nottingham Art Festival.

comwhiteFollowing on from the success of last years multi-arts Carnival of Monsters festival 2011 in Nottingham, Bartons (www.bartonsplc.co.uk) have kindly offered to host the festival again this year. We are currently putting together what will be a bigger and better festival combining Art, Music and Performance in the fantastic Bartons buildings.

We are running the festival around the same dates as last year (starting on the Oct 13th for 2 weeks). We already have support from the Beeston Bid and Broxtowe Councils, been offered Radio air play and promotion in the press, TV and the Oxjam Festival among many others. Bartons have also been chosen as a venue for the Cultural Olympiad this year.

We are currently seeking ambitious proposals from artists working in the East Midlands or further afield, either site specific or existing pieces. The Festival is a unique opportunity to present large-scale sculpture, painting, live art, photography, installations, film, video, dance and music in a truly unique venue.

Should you wish to visit the venue prior to submitting a proposal please get in touch and we will try to accommodate small groups in advance of the submissions deadline.

For more information about the festival please visit our website:

www.carnivalofmonsters.co.uk

From here you can join our Facebook, Twitter or Google Plus pages to keep informed of the latest news.

The deadline for submissions will be 27th July and prior to that full submissions guidelines will be posted on the site. Anyone interested should get in touch via our website, or via our email address: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
